Viking Period Silver Brooch - Baltic Area
c. 9th – 11th Century AD
A large and attractive silver penannular brooch with swivel pin still attached. The arms have incised designs along their length. Notably, the terminals of the brooch arms are animal heads with protruding tongues. The circular pin head has incised designs and a central raised bezel with a small stone gem.
Excellent state of preservation and a pleasingly toned surface patina.
