This detailed map depicts southwestern France in the mid 1700’s. Topographical features are shown, and major cities, towns, mountains and water routes are identified.

Guyenne (Guienne), Gascogne (Gascony), Perigord and Bearn were recovered from the English at the close of the Hundred Years War.  Navarre (Navarra) was passed by inheritance in 1589 to Henry IV of Bourbon, King of France.  Today it is part of northern Spain.
