This map depicts French Algeria in Africa with the three provinces of Oran, Alger and Constantine in contrasting colors. Topographical features are shown and major cities, towns, deserts, waterways, and land routes are located.

The vignettes depict Dey D’Alger,  Abd-El-Kader (Military & religious leader – founder of the Algerian State), and views of Constantine & Alger.

The heraldic arms of Alger are also shown. Between the two views is a chart providing a list of Arabic words and French equivalents.
