This highly decorative map depicts the region of Namur in Southern Belgium. The city of Namur is shown in the center at the confluence of the Sambre and Meuse rivers.

Topographical features are well noted and most cities, towns, waterways, forests and wagon routes are located. The map is further enhanced with the elaborate and colorful cartouches. A striking example from the "Golden Age" of Dutch cartography.

Jodocus Hondius (1563-1612) (Henrici´s brother) was the founder of the famous 17th century Dutch map publishing family. Jodocus, along with sons Jodocus II and Henricus, and son-in-law Jan Janssonius, was prominent in Dutch cartography and competed with the emerging Blaeu family map business.
