''MAP OF TEXAS'' Chicago: George F. Cram, c. 1890. Published for Grant’s Bankers & Brokers Railroad Atlas (scarce atlas). Original color-printed map.(Image:16 1/4 x 22 1/4’’)

This extremely detailed Railroad Map depicts Texas with counties named and in yellow outline color. Topographical features are well noted, with major towns, cities, military forts, mountains and water routes identified.

Railroads are shown with each railroad named, and every stop noted!!

Major Ranches are also located such as Dockum’s Ranch (Crosby County: W. C. Dockum was a successful buffalo hunter) and the famous King Ranch (Nueces County - 825,000 acre ranch).

Greer County is still shown inside the Texas State Boundary. Dispute over who actually owned Greer County continued even after 1896 when the Supreme Court ruled that the area was not under Texas jurisdiction.  The newly created counties of Coke & Irion appear here. Interestingly, Buchel and Foley (created in 1887) appear here, but they were never organized and their area was added to Brewster in 1897.
