This handsome historical map depicts the African continent with countries named and in contrasting colors. Topographical features are shown (including the Ptolemaic Mountains of the Moon shown stretching across the central part of the continent), with major towns, cities, water routes, mountains and island located.
The southern interior is labeled ''Regions Unexplored'' – with an additional note stating that this ''Country occupied by the Jagas & other barbarous Tribes''. A fine example from Finley’s atlas, which was highly praised for its elegance and clarity.
