This early leaf consists of text printed in gothic letters. The blue and red illuminated “E” in the central text block begins the Prologue to I Corinthians. The large red and blue illuminated “P” begins I Corinthians 1:1-9: “Paulus vocatus…” (Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God…As the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so that nothing is wanting to you in any grace, waiting for the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ. Who also will confirm you unto the end without crime, in the day of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful: by whom you are called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord).

The central text is surrounded by Nicolaus de Lyra’s famous commentary. “This work, which was used by Luther, and influenced some of his writings” was first published with the biblical text in 1481.
