Roman Pottery - Two Handled Jar, c. 1st Century AD 

Ancient Roman buff colored terracotta storage jar – wheel turned with two applied handles. The jar is footed and has a flared rim. The bulbous body is embellished with two turned grooves around the circumference. The surface shows an interesting encrusted surface from burial.

Nicely shaped and in excellent condition with no cracks and a minor rim chip. A very fine example of Roman provincial manufactured utility ware, pleasingly shaped and skillfully potted.
