Unusual vibrant and elaborate panel borders on recto and verso in colorful floral (including strawberries – symbol of perfect righteousness)and geometric motif in red, green, blue and white on gold ground.

The one-line illuminated “D” begins Psalm 26:11-14: “Legem…” (Set me, O Lord, a law in thy way, and guide me in the right path, because of my enemies. Deliver me not over to the will of them that trouble me; for unjust witnesses have risen up against me; and iniquity hath lied to itself. I believe to see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living. Expect the Lord, do manfully, and let thy heart take courage, and wait thou for the Lord).

The nine lessons from Job contain moving readings from Job detailing the trials he endured in his struggle for God’s blessings.

The two-line illuminated “R” begins Lesson IV – Job 13:23-28: “Responde michi…” (Answer me. How many are my iniquities and sins? Make me know my crimes and offences…).

The two-line illuminated “H” begins Lesson V – Job 14:1-4: “Homo natus…” (Man born of a woman, living for a short time, if filled with many miseries…).
