Two original continuous bifolium leaves (four pages) from a medieval manuscript Book of Hours. 15 lines of red-ruled Latin text, in dark brown ink, on animal vellum.  (Each leaf: 197 x 138mm - 5 1/2 x 7 3/4'')

Two two-line illuminated initials in pink or blue with delicate white penwork & an interior floral design in red, blue and orange on a burnished gold ground, & extending into the margin with a rinceaux floral design in blue & burnished gold.; fifteen one-line illuminated initials & thirteen illuminated line-extenders in burnished gold on red & blue ground with delicate white penwork.

The text is surrounded on 3 sides with an elegant rinceaux panel border in a delicate floral motif with ivy leaves in red, blue, green, orange & burnished gold, and one illuminated bar extends beyond the length of the text in red, blue & burnished gold.

The one-line illuminated "S" begins Psalm 62 (King James 63) 7-12: "Sic memor..." (If I have remembered thee upon my bed, I will meditate on thee in the morning: because thou hast been my helper...).

The two-line illuminated "D" begins Psalm 66 (KJ 67) complete: "Deus..." (May God have mercy on us, and bless us: may he cause the light of his countenance to shine upon us, and may he have mercy on us.  That we may know thy way upon earth: thy salvation in all nations...).

The two-line illuminated "B" begins Daniel 3:57-66: "Benedicite..." (All ye works of the Lord, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all foarever...).
