This map depicts Mississippi with its counties named and in contrasting colors. Topographical features shown, and major towns and cities are located. Stage routes, railroads (existing, in progress and proposed) and canal routes are identified.

Post Offices, the “Choctaw Agency” (Oktibbeha County), “Cotton Gin Port” (Monroe County) and the Natural Bridge (Calhoun County) are also located. The inset, left, lists the Steam Boat Routes from “Natchez to New Orleans” and “Natchez to Pittsburg”.  An excellent view of the state as it existed prior to the Civil War!
