This historical map was published during the 1836-1845 period of the Independence of the Republic of Texas  -  shown in the classic Heart  Shape - mirroring the boundaries presented on Stephen F. Austin’s early map of Texas.

Mexico is shown in control of the Southwest and California. Central America is labeled as Guatemala.  Honduras and Nicaragua are also named. Topographical features are shown with major cities, towns and waterways identified. ­Two salt lakes are shown in present-day Utah: the mythical lake Teguayo is shown south of the Great Salt Lake named Timpanogos!
