This highly detailed map depicts the "United Provinces" which include present-day Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. "Buenos Ayres" is shown just a few years after it declared independence from Spain in 1816. The events surrounding the independence movement are detailed in the accompaning text. Topographical features are shown, and most of the towns, cities, mountains and water-routes are identified.
