This scarce map depicts the African continent from 10 degrees north of the equatorial line, to include all of the southern portion of Africa and the island of Madagascar. Topographical features are found throughout the map with many major cities, mountain ranges, waterways and islands identified.

The northwestern section shows the Gulf of Guinea with the islands of St. Thomas and Annabón. The large rivers system flowing to the north is the Nile. The Gulf of Aden (Golfo Arabico) is in the northeastern corner of  the map,  while Madagascar (named Isola de S. Lorenzo) and smaller islands are shown in the Indian Ocean
