Military roads and railroad lines are also detailed. ''Townships supposed to contain coal'' & ''Townships containing coal'' are identified by color.

The inset, upper left, depicts a detailed view of the ''City of Portland''. A very detailed view of the state at the beginning of the 1900’s.
