This leaf contains Proverbs 19: 14 - 23:24: ''Domus...''House and riches are given by parents: but a prudent wife is properly from the Lord...Say not: I will return evil:  wait for the Lord and he will deliver thee...To do mercy and judgment, pleaseth the Lord more than victims...He that followeth justice and mercy, shall find life, justice, and glory...The rich and poor have met one another: the Lord is the maker of them both...He that is inclined to mercy shall be blessed: for of his bread he hath given to the poor...Let thy heart apply itself to instruction: and thy ears to words of knowledge.  Withhold not correction from a child:  for if thou strike him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and deliver his soul from hell. My son, if thy mind be wise, my heart shall rejoice with thee...).

This leaf, from a “portable” Bible during the period of the Crusades, would have been used in the abstract study of theology or the preaching of the Gospel around the medieval countryside.
