The full-page panel depicts The Raising of Lazarus. This was a popular 15th century subject – alluding to mankind’s resurrection at the Second Coming – offering a hopeful prefiguration of God’s merciful forgiveness.
The illuminated ''D'' begins Psalm 114 (King James 115) – complete: ''Dilexi quoniam…'' (I have loved, because the Lord will hear the voice of my prayer. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me: and in my days I will call upon him…).
The illuminated ''A'' (verso) begins Psalm 119 (KJ 120): 1-4: ''Ad Dominum…'' (In my trouble I cried to the Lord: and he heard me…).
