The three-quarter-page scene depicts DAVID ANOINTING SOLOMON KING. Bathsheba stands behind David on his left, while two men stand behind him on his right. The banner across the top reads: QUOD IUSTUM EST PETITO (For what is right and proper).

The text beneath the miniature is from III Kings (King James Version, I Kings) 1:17-18: ''Dixit Bethsabee ad…'' (Bethsheba said to David: By the Lord, thy God you said: Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne. And behold now Adonis reigneth, and thou, my lord the king, knowest nothing of it).

The text, verso, is Psalm 129 (KJ 130) complete: ''De profundis…'' (Out of the depths I have cried to thee, O Lord: Lord hear my voice. Let thy ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication. If thou, O Lord, wilt mark iniquities: Lord, who shall stand it.  For with thee there is merciful forgiveness: and by reason of thy law, I have waited for thee, O Lord. My soul hath relied on his word: my soul hath hoped in the Lord…).
