Original leaf from a folio medieval manuscript Bible.  Written in formal gothic textura minuscule in two columns of forty-six lines per page on animal vellum. The leaf measures 290 x 200 mm - 12 x 8 inches.

Illuminated running heads in blue, red and burnished gold with blue and red tracery; full-length marginal stem with tendrils and leaves painted in burnished gold, white, blue, pink & red.

Paris, c. 1320-40.

From a Bible once owned by St. Albans - England’s greatest Royal Abbey in the Middle Ages !                       

This leaf contains text from III Kings (King James Version: I Kings) 1:25 – 2:27: ''Et principes…'' (And the captains of the army…King David answered & said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into the king’s presence, and stood before the king.
