This detailed historical map depicts Texas with its counties named and in contrasting colors.  Topographical features are shown (and described) with major towns, cities, water routes, mountain passes identified.  Railroads (existing and proposed) and wagon routes are also located. 

Sites of important Battles are noted throughout (Ft. Alamo, Palo Alto, Resaca de la Palma…).

The inset shows “Galveston Bay, and Vicinity.”  A fascinating view of the state as it existed immediately prior to the onset of the American Civil War.
