This very unusual historical map depicts the United States & its Territories as they existed very brieflyIndian Tribes are located throughout the map (one of the most detailed maps of the period to show the tribal location in the midst of relocation by the Government).

Western Territories are shown with very unusual configurationsOregon Territory is shown extending north (it continued northward to the controversial 54° 40');

Indian Territory was unorganized and most of it would become Nebraska Territory in 1854;

Wisconsin Territory would become part of Minnesota Territory in 1849 and state of Wisconsin in 1848.

Also of note: The Independent Republic of Texas (formed in 1836) is named – although the disputed western boundary is not delineated. A highly informative and detailed view of the United States during a period of rapid growth and change!!!
