Initials & line-endings illuminated by hand in gold, blue and/or red. Noted for its DECORATIVE BORDERS - the paneled surrounds are historiated or inhabited forms - executed by Philippe Pigouchet.

Fortitude and Faith are two of the Seven Virtues in the side panels.

This leaf continues the Suffrages of the Saints.  Suffrages attest to the deep personal connection between saints and ordinar people. Interior panels depict Saints Peter & Paul, James, and Stephen. At Peter & Paul begins:  "De sanctis..." (Of Saints Peter and Paul. Peter the Apostle and Paul the Doctor to the Gentiles have themselves taught us thy law, O Lord.  In all the earth their voice has gone forth. And their words unto the ends of the earth...). 

At St. James:  "De Sancto iacobo..." (Of Saint James the Apostle.  Light and adornment of Spain, O most holy James, supporter of the oppressed, succor of travelers, crowned with laurel who obtaineth the first place of martyrdom among the apostles...). 

At St. Stephen:  "De sancto stephano..." (Stephen, full of grace and resolution, did great wonders and signs among the people. A just man will sprout forth like a lily. And he will flower forever before the Lord...).
