Original leaf from a medieval manuscript Book of Hours. 16 lines of ruled text, ruled in red, written in Latin with dark brown ink in gothic script on animal vellum.(148 x 110mm).

One illuminated four-line initial in blue & white on burnished gold ground with floral infill in red, orange & blue. The panel borders contain a highly decorative geometric border with an interior floral design,  a whimsical winged creature (bottom) who appears to be jumping, and a bird (left)  in blues, reds, green, pink, orange, gray & liquid gold. Recto blank.

The miniature painting (82 x 62mm) depicts The Coronation of the Virgin Mary: The Virgin Mary kneels on a brown and green tiled floor with hands folded, blessed by Christ who sits on a thrown draped with a gold patterned red textile and holds a golden orb in his left hand.  Her crown is put in place by a descending angel having white and gold wings.

The four-line illuminated ''C'' begins:  ''Converte...'' (Restore us, O God our savior, and turn Thy anger from us).
