This map depicts the new state of Florida (statehood 1845) with its counties in contrasting colors, and topographical features shown with swamps depicted.  Major towns and cities are located and stage, rail and canal routes identified.

Beneath the title is a key for finding Battle Grounds, Military Forts and “Routes of the Army during Seminole War”.

Dade's Massacre Dec. 28, 35 is noted in Benton County.

The charts, top and bottom, list the Steam Boat Routes from “St. Augustine to Savannah…St. Marys & Colerain…Volusia…Thompsons Island” and “Pensacola to Mobile…St. Marks…and Thompson’s Island”.

 Distances between towns by stage are also provided.  Insets depict the street plans for “Pensacola” and “Tallahassee” with streets named, and buildings located. Also included is an inset of the “Harbour of St. Augustine” – with soundings provided. A very detailed view of the state as it existed prior to the Civil War!
